Precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) should be filtered as it is received into the mill from the PCC satellite plant or tank delivery and just before it is used.
Depending upon the PCC solids, it is important to keep the slurry moving through the pipe lines, especially at solids below 20%.
In these cases, the slurry is very prone to settling out when the velocity is too low. Dispersants are usually ineffective at low dry solids levels and are not added to the higher PCC dry solids slurries when manufactured on-site.
Due to higher flow rates in the receiving area we typically recommend the DCF Mechanically-Cleaned Filter Systems or a MAX-LOAD Bag and Cartridge Filter System.
Filtration should also occur at a surface treatment additive's point of use. For PCC, we recommend the DCF Mechanically-Cleaned Filter Systems or
MAX-LOAD Bag and Cartridge Filter Systems.
