Balanced against the risk of a
paper break, damage to the paper machine, or an off-quality product caused by a
plugged nozzle, the role of filters for shower systems is
an important one. A filter installed to protect paper machine showers must satisfy three requirements:
1) provide sufficient screen area to handle the required flow,
2) remove those contaminants that might plug the shower nozzles,
3) and be easy to clean so minimum operator attention and downtime are required.
Because of irregular surfaces of pipe walls and loss of water velocity tend to destroy the dispersion of the suspended solids in the water, it is always important to install the filter immediately before the water's point of use.
